It all started with my roommate's camera. A Yashica 35mm film camera with two interchangeable lenses, I still remember it twenty some years later. Back then I was a sponsored snowboarder obsessed with finding the next hit to spin off. I never thought I would start to spend more time shooting film than riding snow covered hills.
The more I practiced photography, the more passionate I became. I wanted to learn everything about it. It took a couple more years before I saved enough to get some formal training, and from there I hit the ground running.
I connected with a magazine in Milwaukee that just released its first issue, and that gave me the creative outlet to hone my skills in photography, retouching, and art direction. Before long I was working with some amazing people and wonderful companies, as well as publications across North America.
Still to this day I think about my old roommates camera from time to time. That one small thing sent me on a path that achieved twenty years of loving what I do every single day.
